Our church hosted a Light the Night program the weekend after Christmas. They had bounce houses for the kids, food trucks for everyone, a live band, etc. They also had a live nativity with donkey rides and a little petting zoo. The church asked Jacob, I & Jonathan to play the part of Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus. It was pretty fun. Jonthan was in a great mood. He played the role almost too perfectly :) And the kids loved coming by to see him. Our older kids all had fun playing with their friends. So it was a win-win night for all.
Last night, at Awana, a mom came up to me and thanked me for playing that role. She said her daughter (3) kept wanting to go back and see us and baby Jesus. She didn't want to play in the bounce house, or ride a donkey, she wanted to see Jesus. This mom shared how it opened the door to some great teachable moments for her family. That was neat to hear.
Here's some photos from the evening.
I told you, perfect baby Jesus! Well, except Jesus probably wasn't a white skinned, blue eyed baby ;)
